Threads of Hope was founded in March of 2005 by a group of women artisans in the community of San Isidro de La Laguna, Quintana Roo, Mexico.  The community is one of three traditional Maya villages founded by Guatemala refugees in the 80s, who fled civil war, received asylum and a new beginning in Mexico.
